My process for Webcomic Day this year and I'm featuring my Patreon exclusive comic "The Curtain Falls", a 50 page Lupin III comic about Lupin in his 60s and coming to terms that nothing lasts forever. The comic is wrapping up THIS WEEK with printing and a digital PDF on the horizon, so I wanted to promo that today as well! Sign up on Patreon to read the whole comic!
[ID: Process image of the comic The Curtain Falls, on the left it reads "Thumbnails. Drawn in pencil in my sketchbook. Size: 1x1.5" they're very small!! Thumbs are done at the same time as outlines. Done in big batches." On the right is a crudely drawn thumbnail in pencil on paper, showing Lupin looking wide eyed and to the right, there's an empty speech bubble beside him. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"
Process image of the comic The Curtain Falls, on the left it reads "Sketch. Done in Clip Studio Paint. Size: 6.25"x9.25". As clean as I'm able! Lettering simultaneously. The slowest process." On the right is a sketched Lupin looking wide eyed to the right. The speech bubble beside him reads "S-sure?" and there's boxes and bags behind him as he sits in the passenger seat of a car. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"
Process image of the comic The Curtain Falls, on the left it reads "Inks. Layer is set to monochrome. Layer is also set to vector. Here's where I add more detail. Fastest & my favourite part of the process." An inked version of the previous wide eyed Lupin, the inks are solid black and a bit choppy. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"
Process image of the comic The Curtain Falls, on the left it reads "Tones. Tone styles vary comic to comic. More vibes based than 'accurate'. 1 brush! I try to minimize switching brushes as much as possible." On the right is a toned in wide eyed Lupin, the tones are textured and light. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay" /end]
