imgur's been blocked/banned in the uk
i don't know if non-uk people are aware, but imgur just got banned in the uk which means if you use imgur to host images you have on your website (instead of hosting them directly in your neocoties files or on an altnerative image hosting site like catbox) people in the uk can't see your site properly. every image hosted on imgur is replaced with a big purple box that says "content not viewable in your region".
so a heads up that if you are a uk webmaster and use imgur… you yourself won't be able to view your own site (possibly a vpn could get you around this but vpns cost money, there are free ones but i've heard not good things about free vpns). and if your not webmaster outside of the uk just a heads up if you use imgur visitors from the uk won't be able to properly see your site (or at least the images on it) anymore. until... whenever, if ever, imgur is unbanned.
(and to clarify, from my understanding, it seems the uk government was going to ban imgur but imgur decided to remove itself from the uk first so it's more that imgur has blocked all uk people from using the site and viewing images hosted on it, rather than the uk banning it.)
here's an example i just came across, this is poemdoll.neocities.org/
how it looks if your not in the uk (image courtesy of discord's embedded image that shows up when you share a link)
and what it looks like now, to me, in the uk, because poemdoll hosts their images on imgur
for alternative image hosting i personally upload images directly to neocities and host from my neocities files, but catbox.moe is an alternative i've seen many webmasters use
edit: been told that catbox is also blocked in the uk, and it does say that on their faq page... but idk if that's true? idk i can access catbox and files other people hosted on catbox in the uk without using a vpn.
