Happy #internationalwomensday y'all. Yeah there's loads of badass women out there to celebrate, but let's not forget the fight for equal rights still goes on. Millions of women all over the world remain second class citizens within the law; in Yemen and Afghanistan, women can't leave the house without their husband's permission; in Pakistan evidence provided by a woman on civil matters is worth half that of a man; in Tunisia sons inherit twice as much as daughters; and finally, a little closer to home, abortion remains illegal in the Republic of, and restricted in Northern Ireland - even in cases of rape.
