MASTER OF CEREMONIES - MARIO LUPATO
The cake cutting is a practice that dates back to the olden times. Of course, they did not have cakes yet but instead used unleavened bread which the groom breaks on the bride’s head and after which they share the bread. The bread or cake symbolizes material possessions and the breaking stood for marital responsibilities and sharing in everything. The sharing also means that they have to provide for each other. Fortunately, man has learned to use the knife instead of the usual head-banging ritual and the first honor will be shared by the man, the head of the family does the first move at all times – the very share of the sweetness of love for his wife. And the honor will be reciprocated by the wife, also sharing the sweetness of love for her love one. Then, they finish it off by sealing it with a kiss. The bread crumbs symbolize fertility for both and the sweetness of the cake symbolizes blissful lives as they go on living together as husband and wife. It has been said that the relation between a husband and wife is that independence is equal, dependence is mutual and obligation reciprocal as the ritual speak of, pretty much. The toasting ceremony is a formal act of expressing good wishes and lasting happiness to the couple. It is also a symbol of perfect health and long life. During the olden times, a man would drink to the health of one of the ladies and a piece of cake and a glass of wine is passed on to every guest receiving each one’s compliment to symbolize health, long life, love everlasting for both. Let the toast pass drink to the last. Cheers! Has anyone of you ever wondered why doves were used during weddings? Well, apparently when a male dove becomes mature, it selects and courts a female dove and they stay together for the rest of their lives. It has been said that even if we separate one another they will surely find their home and each other despite the distance. moreover, the female dove lays only two eggs at the time one male and one female and the parent doves take turns in sitting over the eggs until they are hatched. This act symbolizes undying love and faithfulness for one another. Doves also symbolize purity of love for each other and fortune whoever catches the dove when released. Let the doves kiss each other and kiss each other, too and in the count of three release the doves. So, we wish the couple undying love and faithfulness as they now release the doves!
