Celebrating pagan customs at this year's Festum in Almedinilla with witches and magic potions. . Located where the three provinces of Córdoba, Granada and Jaén meet, Almedinilla is an incredibly special place which has drawn people to its valley for millennia. Archeological digs at Almedinilla have literally unearthed Roman, Iberian and earlier cultures... and you can walk around what they discovered including a Roman villa. Demonstrating inclusivity and respect for other beliefs, this predominantly Catholic community is incredibly proud of their ancestors and the history of the village. Every August there is a week of Festum with reenactments and talks to transport you back in time. Everything from Roman weddings, burials and orgies (yes you read right) to making Iberian pottery and discovering how life was live in paleolithic times. Pre-pandemic there were authentic banquets in the amphitheatre and a Roman street where you could buy locally made Roman products like makeup, pottery, jewellery and plants for medicine. . . . I am Celebrant Spain . I am passionate about Andalucía . Now living on the Costa Tropical, I am proud to have been immersed in the community of Almedinilla for 8 years. But don't just take my word for it, take the road less traveled and discover inland Andalucía for yourself 🤗 . Visit @almedinillaturismo .
