Activist, and Sisterchef Joi Chevalier of Texas' @thecooksnook reminded me that today is Black Women's Equal Pay Day with this post ***Today is Black Women's Equal Pay Day. This day marks the point in the year where we acknowledge Black women's constant and tireless contributions to the workforce. Black women are currently paid $0.63 to every $1 non-Hispanic white men make for the same work. Black women deserve equal pay for equal work, and I am committed to evening the playing field through initiatives like Harris County's program for women and minority-owned businesses. It's past time to pay Black women what they deserve.***. We all understand that fair and equal work deserves fair and equal pay for everyone. It's long overdue that we stop being underserved by fairness, decency, and equity. If we do the job we deserve the fair rate of financial compensation. It's 2021, how much longer do we need to wait? How long would you wait? 🖌️:by Tim Okamura #BlackWomensEqualPayDay #equalpayforequalwork #fairwork #overdue #wedeserveit #makeitright #2021stillfighting https://www.instagram.com/p/CSLt6P6BXZI/?utm_medium=tumblr
