Question to the room
So I prefer weed to alcohol for several reasons but mostly because I can maintain a level of control and awareness that makes me comfortable. My wife is the way round and would rather drink than smoke.
Lately she has commented that I am using weed to escape and withdraw from her and our social group. Not to go too deeply down this well but I do not feel that way and have been doing my best while wrestling with sever depression and anxiety.
She has, especially since May, gotten to a point where anytime she goes out with friends or to hang out at a friends home, she gets very drunk and cannot hardly stand up and walk much less drive at all, much less drive safely. This has resulted in several nights where she ends up staying at someone’s home until the morning.
Our children have noticed this and commented on it as well. Since they are 12 and 8 and we live in a small house it’s not hard to miss their mom.
So my question to the room is, who is escaping? My wife who drinks to oblivion and ends up passing out in someone’s couch or myself who uses weed perhaps two times a day to manage pain, depression and anxiety and is still home every night and managing to take care of kids and chores at the same time?
