Physical Music 75 - Consumed noise.
For many people music has replaced silence. In a world of noise solace is found by drowning out the ambient, the traffic, machines, other conversations, a neighbours choice of listening etc. We shut ourselves away not to contemplate our thoughts in peace, but to choose our own level of distraction. For some silence is unknown, uncomfortable, unwelcome.
Is this merely a reflection of our consumerist society, where to add another layer of the latest technology often serves to distract us from appreciating what we have or what we need?
