Ribbon! Christmas Carole!
Ribbon: I’d have to say The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury! I read it in the sixth grade, and while I’d enjoyed books before then, I never felt the need to read as a hobby. This changed all that. I absolutely loved the stories, and really enjoyed that most of them didn’t have the traditional happy ending. It also made me want to create stories of my own, which I started working on around this time. I was even so inspired I wrote Bradbury. I also read The Illustrated Man and five or so more books that year, which was unusual for me. I attempted Dandelion Wine, but my grandmother pointed out it may be a bit over my head, and I quickly lost interest. It’s on my current To Read list now.
Christmas Carole: I was never particularly happy with my name when I was younger. I also didn’t like that I had my mother’s maiden name, while the rest of my family shared a common surname. I wanted to be a Heather instead of Azalea. Still a flower name, but a much more accepted one? It doesn’t bother me know though, it’s just my name.
