Weekend Lukanette Link Roundup 5/4/20

A few things on here are from Thursday but oh well, I make the rules and they are subject to change according to whim so you all don’t miss out on fun stuff.

(If you’re intrigued by the idea of hockey-playing Luka be on the lookout for her upcoming fic Vibe Check which she’s still working on but I have every confidence that it will be awesome when it happens)

Luka Couffaine and the Triwizard Champion Also for my birthday, a Harry Potter AU featuring Luka taking on Lila and being both protective over and utterly smitten by Marinette. It’s super cute and sweet and has all my favorite things, including Juleka teasing which we all know I’m a sucker for.

I have two more to add but I’m gonna roll them up under my stuff for reasons that will become obvious.

Okay! So yesterday was my birthday and it’s one of those big round number birthdays that make you feel a little insecure and a little freaked out and of course, everything is closed so I couldn’t DO anything, so I decided to throw myself a little online party and celebrate by posting a bunch of things! They’re all tagged birthday big bang if you just want to jump in, but here’s the complete list.

Beautiful Dreams Ch 1 - I am SO EXCITED for this fic. It’s currently planned at six chapters and I’ve been working on it for months, and I’m finally to the point where I feel like I’m ready to start sharing it with you all. You’ve seen it teased in a bunch of WIP Wednesdays and SSS for a while now and it’s finally here!! If you prefer to read it on AO3 where you can subscribe for updates you can do that as well. Hopefully updates should be pretty regular as the first four chapters are mostly complete aside for some edit and polish.

Of course, there were more April Kisses. (Today’s is late, I got sick for a few days last week - not the Big Thing - and didn’t get anything done and so I’ve worked through my backlog, but I hope it will still be out tonight)

Finding Harmony was already posted in its entirety to AO3 but is now also complete here on Tumblr.

WeekLY Lukanette Link Roundup

New Format! I’m trying something a little different this week; I had some people express interest in having the roundup cover the whole week instead of just the weekend, so that’s what I did. To do that, I’ve changed the format to make the overall post shorter and a bit easier on me. Feel free to let me know what you think in the replies or asks. I’m also putting together a sort of informational post about how this whole process works in case anybody has questions, but the short rundown is: I take the stuff that comes through the tag or across my dashboard, and if it’s Lukanette endgame, I throw it in a link post (If I can’t tell which way it’s going to go, I don’t link it. Stuff drama/suspense/whatever, I’ve read enough Luka heartbreak for a lifetime, thanks. I would love it if everyone would tag endgames.)  Beyond that, I’m not really curating for quality or taste. All About the Link Roundup

If you’re new to me, I apologize for the wordiness of this post, but I’m just a wordy person (if you’re not new to me, you probably already knew that and knew to look for the bolded information if you’re in a hurry).

So just a few quick notes about the Lukanette Link Roundup I’ve been doing!

For readers:

I don’t curate the link list for quality. Every once in a while I read something that makes me uncomfortable for some reason, but for the most part I feel like everybody deserves for their work to be seen. However, I do promise everything in the list will be Lukanette endgame to the best of my knowledge. Sometimes a bait and switch happens, but I’m reading all of these and if it happens I will be just as surprised as you and at least as mad about it. 😆 If I’m not sure what the endgame is, I won’t include the link until I am.

Please remember to reply/reblog/like the author’s original post, and not just my link list. If you want authors to keep writing, they need the feedback and exposure, not me (except on my own work, where I will certainly take it). That’s not to say I mind reblogs or likes on the link post, I know a lot of you save the list so you can read stuff later, and it does give me the warm fuzzies to know people are finding this useful. All of that is invisible to the authors, though, so please make sure to appreciate them where they can hear you. Try to spread the Lukanette love by reblogging the original posts as much as you feel comfortable doing.

I don’t pretend to be even remotely comprehensive with this list; I’m mostly just checking out the Lukanette tag and my own dashboard. I’m not actively looking for content beyond that. If I happen to find something on AO3 I’m excited about or that was posted by a friend, I’ll sometimes toss it in, but for the sake of my own sanity I’m not going to go seeking every lukanette fic posted everywhere on the internet. 

For content creators: 

First and foremost, if you would prefer not to be included for any reasons whatsoever, please let me know and I’ll stop including your links in the list, no questions asked. 

I reblog every post individually as well as linking. My intentions with this list are solely to boost exposure for Lukanette authors and if you feel it’s not benefiting you, feel free to ask me not to include you per above. I take absolutely no offense and I understand completely. 

Conversely, if you would like being included and want to make sure I don’t miss your work, feel free to drop a link in my ask box or DM me, either way. 

As mentioned above, I’m really not curating the link list at all, but this list is Lukanette endgame only. That means Luka and Marinette are the main focus and they end up together at the end okay, I’m amending this one slightly to let me cover a slightly larger range of angsty fics: either they end up together at the end, or they’re moving in that direction, OR the sense of the fic is that they should have ended up together even if they didn’t (due to death, miscommunication/breakup, whatever). If I can’t tell, I won’t include it. I understand that some people don’t like to spoil their endgame, but I know that I for one am tired of reading Luka getting his heart broken, so. If you’re not willing to divulge your endgame, that’s fine--I just won’t link to it if I'm not reasonably confident that’s where you’re going. If you complete it and you want to drop me a link at that point, that’s cool, but I’m not going to keep reading to find out. I also don’t usually post what I think of as “Adrienette in disguise.” If 99% of the fic is Adrien being sad that Lukanette is together and regretting his past choices, I usually won’t include it. Sometimes things squeak by, but for the most part, I avoid it. If the fic is 99% salt and just happens to include Lukanette, it also won’t make the cut. I realize this is a subjective standard, but I’m focused on picking the things that I personally want to see, and that my blog audience wants to see. 

I don’t include art in the roundup, although I do reblog it when I find it, partially because art tends to naturally garner more exposure than fics and partially because well. It would be a lot more work. If someone else wants to do a weekly art roundup I’d be happy to reblog.

I link the original tumblr post even if the post itself is just a link to AO3 or wherever, so that readers can like/reblog/reply to the original post. If you somehow stumbled on this and don’t have a tumblr but want to be included, I have anon asks open so you can drop me your direct link that way.

All of this started because I looked at the deluge of tumblr content on the weekend, and noted how comparatively little reaction my own content got when I posted on the weekend, and thought it was a shame, so I collected a bunch of links to repost on Monday so that people would see it. I had a few people post to tell me it was helpful and so I kept doing it, and I had a few requests to cover the whole week, so I’m going to give that a try and see how it goes. As long as people are finding it useful and not making things unpleasant for me, I’ll keep doing it.
