I finished my Week in the Life project! It’s a double page spread where each day got a 3x12 column and 9-10 photos. I used the digital day of the week cards from a previous WITL kit for my journaling and embellished with leftovers from an older DITL kit. I’m Team Sunday-Saturday for my week, and I like how that meant the project kicked off with us driving home from our Niagara Falls weekend trip before the rest of the week reflected the more typical routine. The overturning of Roe v. Wade was a devastating way to end the week, and when my desire to take photos plummeted, I was able to pull in screenshots of social media, articles, and text conversations with friends about the news. It stopped me in my tracks while crafting to notice that I had a coat hanger embellishment among the supplies I was already using for this spread. I had second thoughts about using in this way, because it’s a problematic symbol that can create unintentional fear around the reality of healthcare access today versus the pre-Roe era, but it still captured how I felt that day. How I want to acknowledge the agency of people throughout history who have taken matters into their own hands (both successfully and tragically) to resist state control over their bodies. And in the way that the coat hanger symbol has come to signify violence and death, representing that many people will suffer and die as a result of this decision. #scrapbooking #weekinthelife #weekinthelife2022 #12x12layout #12x12scrapbook #aliedwardsdesigninc #aeweekinthelife #aeweekinthelife2022 #witl ##aewitl https://www.instagram.com/p/CgVbzuDuYyN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
