MOCHAPICK OF THE WEEK: GETTER PRESENTS: PLANET NEUTRAL
Getter, who’s known for his iffy heavy personality and even iffier heavier dubstep, decided to make a future album under another alias that he’s had for a while.
He succeeded.
The album is super tight, incorperating lots of nice arps and vocals with happy and almost dreamy undertones. What I love most is how original it sounds; nothing on this album sounds overdone, or following in some artist’s footsteps, which I fear is a problem with lots of artists who do this kind of genre. The first few songs off the album sort of approach the archetypal “throw some 5th chords and arps and see what we get” composure, which put me off as he slowly uploaded each song in order. However, once Soulmother, I Love You was shown, my outlook totally changed. Whether it was Tree’s haunting vocals or the off-key sounds that played throughout the drop, Getter hooked me and kept me for the rest of the ride.
The rest of the album was smooth sailing; insanely smooth at that. Give it a listen.
8/10

Weekly Pick: The Superior Foes of Spider-Man #1
There aren't a lot of really funny comics out these days, but Superior Foes is definitely a funny comic. The series revolves around the new Sinister Six, comprised of Beetle, Shocker, Boomerang, Speed Demon, and Overdrive. Yes that's only five, though with Chameleon pulling the strings it seems we have a full roster. The first issue deals with the petty crimes these villains are forced to pull to get by, and the dysfunctions of dealing in a team. If you're looking for a good humourous comic about viallins this might turn out to be your favorite series.
