Two weekends ago, I made a pilgrimage from San Luis Obispo down to Silverado, California to attend the second annual Woogie Weekend Music Festival! I didn’t know it going into the weekend, but Woogie Weekend would turn out to be the most intimate, loving and organic festival I had ever been to. Upon arrival at Oak Canyon Park (the former home to fellow DoLaB produced music festival Lightning in a Bottle) on Friday afternoon, I was instantly greeted by a swarm of smiles and silly costumes, setting the mood for a truly enchanting weekend. Let these photos take you on a guided adventure through the beautiful and breathtaking sights and sounds of Woogie Weekend!
I met this rambunctious rabbit just minutes after first walking into the festival. “Take my picture quick, before I hop away forever”, he said.
There was a glorious pond that sat in between the two main stages, cooling the entire festival all weekend long.
Here’s a few beautiful souls of Woogie Weekend.
This was the beautiful Kaleidoscope Stage; my favorite stage at the festival.
House music; its a spiritual thing…
The art installations all around the festival were abundant and alluring, but these two were the ones that caught my eye the most.
And more beautiful souls.
One of the most fun and exciting parts of Woogie Weekend was the enormous slip-n-slide they had!
Even puppers were having a gran ol’ time at Woogie Weekend!
This not so timid tiger gladly did an entire photo shoot for me!
A stunning sunset Saturday afternoon set the mood for what would become a spectacular night.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed all the music I heard at Woogie Weekend, I can’t deny my inner bass head and my physical need for bass music. Saturday night, after two straight evening of nothing but house music, I was blessed to find a Santa Barbara native named Beau spinning dubstep and trap out of his food truck. I stayed here, headbanging my heart out, with no more than three other festival goers from 1:45am until I decided to head back to camp an hour or so later. You’ll have to forgive the poor photo quality, but this was such an important part of my Woogie Weekend experience that I felt it had to be shared.
Finally, my favorite set of the weekend came from Claptone. His unique and tantalizing fashion style complimented his impressive set perfectly, and was the pinnacle of my Woogie Weekend experience.
All in all, Woogie Weekend was an absolutely incredible experience that I would undoubtedly recommend to any music lover or festival goer. I know I certainly cannot wait to return for next year’s festival!
