🎵 Song prompt: Dangerously - Charlie Puth
🎵 Summary: "Longtime on-again-off-again lovers Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy were caught in a compromising position in one the Ministry's lifts yesterday evening. While fans of the couple are optimistic, there's still doubt as to whether or not this particular reconciliation will last. - The Daily Prophet, "Love Is In The Air," 28th Oct. 2005.
📻 Your Daddy Knows (You're A Flame) (E, 27.8k)
🎵 Song prompt: Babyfather by Sade (2010)

📻 Don't search me in here (E, 6.7k)
🎵 Song prompt: Gone - Charlie XCX & Christine and the Queens

📻 I Can Be Your Lighthouse (T, 4k)

🎶 H/D Wireless Fic and Art 🎶
📻 Art: Our Love Song (G)
🎵 Summary: Harry and Draco enjoying a Sunday morning bus ride in London.
📻 Fic: Modern Love (E, 61k)
🎵 Summary: Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.
And it really doesn’t seem fair that Draco Malfoy is back in Harry’s life, all of a sudden, and even though he’s wandless, and living with Muggles, and making his mother cry with his lifestyle choices, he’s happy. So what's he doing right, that Harry isn’t?
Because things don’t really change, do they? And if Harry can’t be happy, he’ll settle for a good night’s sleep, some posh antiques, and the opportunity to find out what Malfoy has been up to for all these years.
Kudos to our wonderful creators! Our total word count for the first week is nearly 35k, which is really impressive for a femslash fest. We understand that this can be a bit overwhelming, but we hope you have the time to read and comment (and view the lovely art)! ♥ Your tired mod is super excited to spend Sunday enjoying wlw works. See you with more creations on Monday!

I’m a little late getting this up, but better late than never, right? It was another full week on the blog where I participated in the usual memes, reviewed some good books (I really enjoyed the middle grade one!), and even talked about some book-inspired costume ideas.

In reading news, I finished up In the House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt, which was a spooky, folktale-feel book. I’ll be posting my review for that one tomorrow! I also (finally) started reading The Child Thief by Brom because I’ve my eye on it for ages--I’m a sucker for a dark Peter Pan story. I’m almost done with it and it’s okay. I really like the story, but the writing isn’t quite what I thought it would be. I think I’m going to finally pick up The Haunting of Hill House next, so I’m pretty excited for that. :)
How was your week/weekend!? What are you reading? Let me know!
okay y’all! it’s done! this dissertation is done. I am waiting for the go-ahead from my advisor to submit but she is complete! I will post an open-access Google link to the full project once I receive my final mark, so that I don’t jeopardize the ~anonymous submission~ rules. Thank you all so much for reading along and sending your support these past five months. It’s been a joy of a project, and even more so because I’ve connected with fandom community in meaningful ways as both a fan and a fan of fandom
Things I posted
an explanation on why forthcoming mainstream-published works that reinterpret other works that are no longer under copyright protection do not ~quite~ qualify as fanfiction
a sassy post on why DMing fic writers ‘update??’ doesn’t fit the community ethos of fandom. feel free to link this in response to annoying DMs.
a reflection on bias in information organization, particularly in library cataloguing systems
thoughts on completionism and bingeing fanfiction
Things I recommend and Things I’m Thinking About
the 1995 BBC serial adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. It’s really just 6 hours of Colin Firth sulking in the corner of a room and good lord I would watch 12 hours of Colin Firth sulking in the corner of a room. then I watched the 2005 film adaptation the next day, and I love them both, and they do different things very well. I’ll write a post about medium and adaptation and versioning this week and use P&P as an example, simply because it’s on my mind
and on the other end of the heterosexual relationship spectrum, the 1975 film The Stepford Wives. Bone chilling. I’m not a horror film person, but I loved this film, and Jordan Peele cited it as heavily influencing Get Out. Highly recommend.
