The Weekly Chomp-1/4/16 - 1/9/16

Jo and I have come to the realization that it’s becoming a little difficult to find news that’s really big to share with you guys on a day to day basis. This is why Dailybites has been absent for a while lately. To help alleviate this, we will be compiling up the weeks news and share it at the end of the week, alternating back and forth like we do with Flash Back Friday. If anything major happens, we’ll talk about it then, but otherwise, we’ll be doing this. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Psychonauts 2 has reached it’s crowdfunding target. While we don’t have any information on the game itself, or any stretch goals, director Tim Schafer sends his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped fund the game.
The open beta for Plants Vs Zombies; Garden Warfare 2 starts very soon if you’re eager to try it out. On Janurary 14th, PS4 and XBONE owners will be able to jump into the game, and dip their roots in the water, with 6 new classes. 24-player matches will be available in the beta, as well as a new mode called Herbal Assault, which puts the plant team on the offensive, instead. The beta will only run until January 18th, so get in it while you can.
King Games has released yet another variation of their Freemium iOS game, called Candy Crush Jelly Saga, which brings with it two new modes. In the Jelly Mode, you must match Candy and Jelly tiles in alternating sequence. And the new Boss mode, where you face off against the Jelly Queen and her minions. We don’t have any pictures of the new boss mode, but it’s likely to function similar to multiplayer Tetris. Lame, it would be way better if it was like Wario’s Woods.
Marc Laidlaw, the writer for Half-Life, has announced his retirement from Valve. I want to make a Half-Life 3 joke, but it seems like we just won’t get it anymore. Well, we might, but it’ll be different and no one will like it just because it is different. Additionally, a Star Wars themed open world RPG that was being crowdfunded was cancelled, and Pacific Rim 2 has been canceled as well, due to budgeting issues.
Lastly, Fallout News, because it’s hotter than the sun in the middle of July right now. A mod created by the reddit user “reddit_is_wrong” has surfaced that changes the games graphics to a cel-shaded look that’s similar to those in Borderlands. Fallout 4 with graphics like Borderlands? I know someone who’s gonna be happy. You can find out more about it down below.
