ILL-FATED
(starter for @weepingwillowwidow)
The days, months and years that had gone, all spent on a hassling war, seemed like a waste. All that time spent on a war. Better could be done with that time. At least to Helena. The division, the red line between each of the four colonies, was it really all worth it? Though she could sometimes question this, she didn't dwell all too much. For there was no point in dwelling, she wouldn't have a particular or big say, the war would go on. More fairies would lose their lives to protect their honor and their home, more meetings and gatherings would be held to riot, more supplies and weapons would be gathered and made.
The war, luckily, hadn't been too physical yet, though with all the build-up, it felt like it could all start very soon. The earth fairies in her colony had prepared for anything, building walls and practically making barricades, clearly showing where another fairy would be trespassing or not. The colonies largest problems of all was actually having to keep this all a secret and be quiet, for they couldn't risk humans finding out about them. They all had to go into disguise if there was threat of their colonies and species being unveiled, it was all such a hassle. But it was one common problem for all the elemental fairies. Helena walked alongside the walls that were slowly being built, all made of wood and other earthly materials. It was all they had. Builders were working hard, their wings growing weak from it, the spines of them growing more evident day by day. Always there, from when the sun would reach the top of the sky, until the moon would later take its place.
Her hazel eyes flickered to what she could see beyond those facades, the open blue sky right up ahead and the greenery of life. It didn't feel like life, that was sure. Nothing felt like living those days, for there was only one thing to focus on. She sighed, her feet practically dragging herself along the dirt path. She decided to wander a bit, go out to where she could perhaps have something else on her mind. Enjoy the nature that enveloped them, appreciate it. Even though it was hard to appreciate anything at all during that time.
