Alright I got this one twice so let me gather myself…five things I would change…

1. Give Unalaq a proper motivation/ make him more well-rounded. Red Lotus aside Unalaq was a very weak villain with no clear reason behind his evil and I’m not statisfied with the “re-spiritualization”-thing they were trying to convey because that just doesn’t seem like a legit reason for everything he did. Also I would very much have liked to know how he came to seemingly hate all of his family (including his children????) to the point where he only interacts with them when they’re useful.

2. GINGER. ESKA. BOLIN’S LOVE LIFE IN BOOK 2. All of which was borderline super-sexist and couldn’t be taken very seriously and didn’t seem to have added to Bolin’s character in any way. I’m especially angry about the Boleska kiss in the finale OH AND that one time Ginger kisses Bo at the premiere. I just don’t even know what the moral of that story is or why it was in the show to begin with. I wish it would have made space for his actual storyline which was about him growing up and gaining independence from Mako.

3. Let Team Avatar take its time in book 4. Even though I was happy to see Korra’s journey at the beginning of book 4 I definitely missed the Team Avatar dynamic in this season, which was especially disappointing since it would have been so interesting to see what has changed in those years. There were a lot of things that took time away from this…some of which i liked (the Beifong plotline) and some of which could have been avoided imo (Prince Wu not being an adult and taking in a lot of screen- and Mako-time). All in all we hardly ever saw all of them together and I would have at least wanted them to do anything in the finale like destroy one giant mecha suit or something small but well… I just miss the Krew aesthetic.

4. The abrupt Zhurrick thing… I don’t understand why you would arrange this relationship the way it was. I get how Zhu Li’s role in the previous books was just The Assistant but in book 4 I would have expected different treatment if the creators already knew that that couple was going to be endgame. Varrick not showing any signs of real affection towards her was just confusing and if you ask me “oh look I now know how much I should appreciate you” doesn’t equal relationship build-up. I definitely ship them but I wish it had been done more smoothly.

5. Give Asami a chance for more character development.But I won’t even bother with this one since wars have been fought over this statement already
