Gunk on Books
The least appealing thing to see on a book coming into the Preservation Lab is either a weird stain, or a note about a weird stain. We can try to clean them off, sometimes substances are easy to remove, and some are actually benign substances like what we believe was laundry detergent (far right), but they are all gross.
Please take care of your books folks! Especially if they are library books, but also if you don’t have any Book Repair Technicians to check out the mouse poop situation for you.
