16 yr olds in olden days: *has 27 children, been married off three times, not allowed to leave the house*

16 yr olds in slightly younger olden days: *has multiple children that they hate, a husband they despise, and a dog that keeps them from ending it all*

16 yr olds now: *too depressed and anxious because their guardians/older folks they looked up to are constantly berating and attacking them for stupid things to the point that they feel the need to isolate themselves from others, also constantly stressed out because school is really fucking hard and they get no help from elders because ‘they should know this’ and end up feeling stupid and/or like a failure because they start to believe what their elders say*
