5th year in a row where I've spent new years eve alone (due to my job). Normally I try to make my own fun, but I' losing energy for it every year that passes. Trying to smooth it down with the promise of a good movie to myself.

A Troubling Feeling

You know? I don't get upset near often anymore, but a friend of mine who I've known for many years who I've been trying to help out. He complains about surviving, but does not want to work towards living. He's not on here, so airing this out to get some bad juju off of my chest. I love this friend a lot and I've known him for 5 years. He wants to get better but doesn't want to heal. He has a lot of debt but keeps buying games he either doesnt play long or doesnt touch at all. I give him money to help him pay for bills + food and he turns around and spends it on gaming and other accessories. When he begged me to play cyberpunk and expressed how much that game has changed him and how special it was for him, I bought it and started playing through it. This guy loves ancient Japan stuff so I shared a game that was extremely special to me, Ghost of Tsushima which helped me lay a large troubled piece of my soul to rest after a chaotic event in my life. I tell him he should play for the story but he started off the game at max difficulty, then complains how the game is ultra unfair and stupid and constantly mocking it and I told him to lower the difficulty, he refused and kept burning himself into a frustration and started calling the game shit. Then he texts me about how he bought Ghost of Yotei (at full price) , I told him he should finish Tsushima first since it really enhances the little things in Yotei. He goes off about how I'm gate keeping it from him and how my opinion pretty much holds no weight. His actions alone spoke that to me before he even had to say it. I'm just feeling a little down trodden tonight. Playing some ABZU and craving the touch of the sea.

I miss pre 2017 crossover fics. So many of the ones I see these days are just fetish fics or full on smut and I'm all for creative freedom but cant help but think back on the old days of hilarious crack focs or genuine attempts to connect universes.
