1: Why did you start role playing?
I was 13, had just gotten a facebook. I wasn't into Twilight at the time, per se, but I knew enough about it to know Isabella Swan was the main character. So when someone else friended an account called 'Isabella Swan' I was intrigued and checked it out. Turns out it was someone writing as said character! Like acting, but with other people and through writing!
Considering that I'd made my friends 'play Sailor Moon' with me from the age of five (I pulled off a damn great Serena, okay), this seemed like the perfect thing to do. So I made myself another facebook account; for Lily Evans, mother of Harry Potter, still in her school days. That summer of RPing is still my fondest memory of RPing I have. :D
2: What made you choose your muse?
Well, over a year ago now, I joined a Sherlock group in my city. It turns out a lot of us didn't only just like Sherlock, but Doctor Who too! So after the first con of the year rolled around and a bunch of us went together cosplaying DW characters, we made a post in the facebook group talking about how awesome it would be if a bunch of us could cosplay DW characters again at the same con the year after, for the fiftieth anniversary.
What started as a list of comments calling characters to cosplay as quickly spiraled into a multi-Doctor RP -- there was an Eight, a Nine, I was Ten, and there was Eleven. We had a lot of fun and spawned a bunch of feelings, and then talk happened of creating RP blogs. The girl who'd written Nine started up a Ninth Doctor RP blog, and even though I hadn't properly RPed for like a year and a half and had never done so on tumblr before, I volunteered to be a Rose because I thought that dynamic was rarely explored.
And here I am! That Nine is still around too, although she's very busy a lot of the time. :)
5: What has been your favourite thread?
HA HA THIS HAD NO SPECIFICS AND I DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANYONE FEEL BAD BY REVEALING FAVOURITE THREADS HERE SO I'M TOTALLY BYPASSING IT
one of my favourite threads ever was this AU RP I did with a friend of mine -- she played Kasanoda and I played Haruhi Fujioka, both from the anime Ouran High School Host Club. It was super long, well-researched on her part (on yakuza customs and all that) and I got to play with and subvert a lot of damsel in distress tropes (because Haruhi) and it was just a hell of a lot of fun and very in-depth!
8: If you knew your muse in RL would you be friends or enemies?
Oh, we'd totally be friends. I mean, I can't ramble on more than Ten, so Rose, like, has to put up with me by default. xD
11: Is your character major/minor and did this have any influence in your decision to play them?
She's fairly major, I'd say! Haha, but nope! Like I said, I played Rose purely to play off of the Nine/Rose dynamic and see what happened. This wasn't ever intended to be a big proper RP blog RPing with tons of people in the beginning, otherwise I'd never have chosen Rose, because she's too intimidating.
12: Do you feel you stick to canon characteristics of your muse?
Oh, God, do I try. I probably don't, but I try my hardest. I feel like I'm constantly missing out on things and forgetting important details, and that's why I constantly read other, better Rose blogs to try to remember and steer Rose on track again. I try to capture everything I can, though, from her fidgeting to the way she matures in s2 and everything in between.
13: Did you make any changes to your muses timeline/background?
Nope, not by my knowledge! I incorporate book canon, too -- so Keisha is among one of Rose's friends, not just Shareen, and she had a crush on Keisha's brother Jay, and The Stone Rose's kiss happened, and assault and buttery was a thing, and Rose married a caveman -- but aside from that (which weren't my changes anyway!) I didn't change much, if anything!
14: Was there anything that made this muse difficult to work with ,i.e canon death/canon location?
If I ever play post-Journey's End Rose, I have to figure out how she got back to the normal universe? But that's it, and I have a fairly sciencey-wiencey hand-wavey excuse for that, so not that hard in the end!
15: Do you play/interact with the canon character differently now that you roleplay them?
What, like do I see Rose differently now that I RP her? I suppose I like her a bit more. I love all of the companions, honestly, even though sometimes I only love their concepts and not so much how they were played out, finally, but Rose was never a favourite of mine. She still isn't, but I feel the need to defend her a lot more now. ^^
