So, we can't seem to get the timing right with the snow and getting pictures taken. Jim is only available on weekends, and by the time he gets home, it's already dark. We had beautiful snow starting Sunday evening and all through Monday. Since then, the neighbor dogs have absolutely destroyed the snow by our unit, and it's melting like crazy with temperatures in the 40s. We decided to take a few in spite of the dwindling snow, since I've been jonesing to take some Snowpea pics now that I've finally completed that cosplay, and because the Volume 5 finale came out today. And then this happened. I honestly don't know what's wrong with me. This is what we in the industry refer to as "an ungodly amount of lace." 21 yards, almost exactly the entire quantity I bought. 18 on the petticoat, the remainder on the coat hem. I'm pleased with how this one came out, so I'm planning to make a new white one for my original Weiss outfit. It's not at all difficult, but it is time consuming. The lace sewn to the boots is a different style from what I used for the skirt. I wanted something darker and wider for those. I finally finished adding all the trim! Well, except for the sleeves and that little buttonhole slit, but I'm doing those after I add the buttons, which are next on the agenda! So, my detailing at the waist didn't come out quite right, and the only solution was to rip it all off and start over. This is why I always buy a little more than I think I'll need. Everyone screws up, even me. ;) (Nevermind that I royally screwed up my first pattern for Snowpea and had to start over completely from scratch lololololololol; I had just enough fabric left over from what I bought for Snowpea and for the Vol. 4 dresses to make the whole thing, and I didn't actually use any of the lining fabric I bought for Snowpea since I was able to use what was left over from my wedding dress.) Anyway, this time, I'm doing it right (I hope) by lining up the shell and lining, basting them together at the seams, and then adding the black bias tape over that. It helps that all my seams lined up almost perfectly. I'm putting the finishing touches on my Snowpea boots! These came with white heels, but Weiss' heels are black in the show. The soles are black, as well, but I thought the red was a nice touch, a reference to her shrug's red lining on her original outfit. I thought I'd try using Mod Podge to attach some pleather to the heels, but the pleather I have wasn't stretchy enough, so I decided to try my hand at painting them. I've finished the emblem on Snowpea! I'm getting really close to finishing. All that's left is adding the black trim and lace, adding the buttons, making the black petticoat, and altering the boots. That sounds like way more after typing it all out, honestly. This is DecoArt So Soft fabric paint in Baby Blue from @dharmatradingco on white Pima Sateen Sheen cotton from @fabricdotcom. I couldn't get the blue to photograph quite right even after editing.
