Confession #1089
Weiss struggling to lift Crescent Rose because it's super duper heavy is something that's been talked about before, but also hear me out: Ruby not being used to wielding a weapon as light as Myrtenaster, swinging it too hard and accidentally yeeting it three quarters of the way across the battlefield
Vacuo Grand Heat
Ruby: What's this poster? 'Grand Heat'? Isn't that kinda redundant in the desert?
Weiss: It's obviously a race, Ruby. (Looks at Sun) It is a race, right?
Sun: The Grand Heat? Heck yeah it's a race! The best race in the world!
Blake: (reading poster) What's this part about "No Holds Barred"?
Sun: What it means. Anything goes. You can ride any vehicle, any animal, and even attack the other racers! The only exceptions are dust-powered devices or sharp objects.
Nora: Any animal, huh? (To Jaune) Too bad you left your riding rabbit back in the Ever After.
Jaune: I don't think I'd bring Juniper into a race like this anyway.
Yang: But no dust...I guess it's just as well I don't have Bumblebee anymore.
Ruby: I wish we still had that dinosaur.
Weiss: What dinosaur?
Ruby: The one we took that picture with. Remember?
Stupid RWBY idea: the weapons are alive real persons and the hunters are weapons (for ex the huntress Creacent Rose and her trusty scythe Ruby Rose)
Okay, I'm gonna relax on the narrative with this one because the last two asks turned out to be thousands of words one-shots, and that was a wee bit draining.
Plus, I get the impression there's more to do by 'sketching' around the concept.
(and again, please stop calling your nice ideas 'stupid')

Crescent Rose is a quiet girl who's unusually tall for her age, so she has to slouch a bit to avoid towering over most of her classmates, and has some lupine features (fangs, sharp features). That, combined with how easily she can trade her calm demeanor for a fierce, almost animalistic combat style, is why a lot of people call her a wolf girl, despite not being a Faunus.
Her weapon are Ruby and Rose, a pair of sickles she uses for swift cuts in tandem, almost like a dance. They can mechashift into dual revolvers, also for quick shooting. Crescent focuses a lot of swift combat, attacking over and over; Advance Forward.
--
Myrte Schnee is an Atlesian daughter of a Hunters family. Her grandfather Arma instilled on her a heavy sense of duty to others. Though she's usually reserved and silent, she's the first to aid others. Sharp and punctual, she takes great care in keeping a clean exterior, but with a taste for the ornate, especially jewelry.
Her weapon is Weiss, a bastard sword with dual edges of fire and ice dust that can split in two sabers. Myrte sticks to traditional fencing when using it as a single sword, but when split, she goes for more experimental styles, catching her opponents off guard.
--
Shroud Belladonna is a panther Faunus and the princess of the distant Faunus nation of Menagerie. Despite her background, she dresses for comfort and can be found either practicing her acrobatics or just meeting people at the city. She makes no reservations on her intent to abdicate her tittle as soon as possible, preferring to keep her freedom and helping people as a Huntress.
Her weapon is the Blakes, a pair mechashifting kukris that can shoot the blades as either boomerangs, or attached to cables she can use to swing around like the trained acrobat she is.
--
Ember Xiao Long is really more of a thinker than a fighter. That's not to say she's a quiet person, usually chatting up zen conundrums with the same easiness one chats about the weather, while keeping herself occupied with her passion for cooking. Which is why she enjoy taking care of the people around her, either as the team's cook, or a makeshift spiritual guide.
Her weapon, Yang, is a chuí with a gravity Dust core, and the sheer definition of 'keep it simple'. Much like her sister Crescent, Ember mixes dancing with her combat style, usually setting herself up around her enemy's defense to deliver one devastating blow with Yang.
--
Crocea Arc is the most born-unlucky-failgirl on this side of Sanus. Yet, somehow, despite it all, she remains optimistic and moving on. The Arcs being a family of impoverished patricians makes it so her main motivation to become a Huntress, seeking fame and fortune so the Arc name will be put on the papers again... Besides the many times she's made the front page as 'local girl survives freak accident' (and she really wishes they stopped using the sneeze picture).
Her weapon is Jeanne, a modified sniper riffle with a rotating six-shots chamber and a retractable bayonet. Crocea isn't exactly a good shot, or a decent shot. In fact, she's a danger to everything but what she's aiming for. Which is why she never aims for what she wants to hit, making her dangerously unpredictable.
--
Magnhild Valkyrie is larger than life in several ways. For once, she towers over everyone but Crescent, wearing old iron armor gauntlets and shin guards to her already imposing figure. For second, she loves composing sonnets about her many fights with people and Grimm. This is not to say she's a violent person. All the contraire, she's a self-proclaimed pacifist. It's just whenever she finds people in need, she will jump to fight for the needed.
Her weapon is Nora, an axe that can turn around to be used as a shotgun and has six strings she can play guitar with for her sonnets. She is prone to start doing the later mid fight, timing her swings to the tempo of her next song.
--
Miló Nikos is, above all, a woman of faith. She believes the universe is one living organism, and everything that lives, does so together. Which is why she dedicates herself to protect life itself, ready to fight death itself if needed. Though she made a vow of humility, she does enjoy partaking in the mundane when not needed, usually partying her heart out and enjoying the life she so much cherishes to its full extend.
Her weapon is Pyrrha, is a glaive that can mechashift into a recurve bow she's spent years training with to shoot with the accuracy of the sun's first rays in the morning. In either mode, Miló always goes for the quickest path to victory, never wasting a movement.
--
Lie Storm is the son of the road. He never stayed the same town for more than a week, looking equally for purpose and emotion, until he entered Beacon and found himself a family with Magnhild and the others. Quite the simpler person, he finds enjoyment in the calm of day-to-day life, though still aching for action once in a while.
His weapon is Ren, a simple jian with a wind Dust core and a series of holes that play music when swung. Sharp and swift, Storm enjoys extracting harmony out of violence. After meeting Magnhild and her Nora, he modified Ren's handle with a nozzle, so he can play it as a flute without needing to fight.
--
Hope you like where I took this. I tried to keep the cores of each pair of Hunter/Weapon, but also give each a unique twist.
I think my favorites are Nora and Ren as musical weapons.
Maybe an idea to revisit further?
Couldn't find a fun phone case that wasn't ai generated or stolen art so I got a clear case and made my own. Become ungovernable.
Channelling the gods cosplay to please let Myrtenaster survive the move.

very important RWBY meta thoughts in the club tonight
RWBY Weapon Review: Myrtenaster
Weiss Schnee. Granddaughter of a hero, child of a villain, citizen of a fallen kingdom, and heir to nothing. Hers is a story about carving out an identity and a destiny of one’s own. She has faced challenges and hardships all along the way, with and without her friends, but her one companion through thick and thin has always been her trusty weapon Myrtenaster.
Hello and welcome to RWBY Weapon Review Wednesday, where I analyze RWBY weapons and score them based on five criteria.
These criteria are Design, Short Range, Long Range, Mobility, and Versatility. There will also be a bonus round where the weapon can earn bonus points.
I’m doing them in order of appearance, and it’s time to take a look at the second weapon we get to see in the history of the franchise
Description Built by Weiss herself, Myrtenaster is a multi action dust rapier. While it may appear at first glance to be a regular rapier (and it can be used as such), things get a bit more interesting when we look at the handle. Just above the handle is a revolver chamber-like mechanism, which can house up to six vials of different kinds of dust. There’s a trigger and a hammer that can be used to activate the dust effects.
Design I’d say Myrtenaster is tied with Ember Celica as the most simply designed weapon in Team RWBY. It might be the simplest, actually, because it’s just a sword with a revolver chamber. With Ember Celica, it takes a little bit to figure out how they work, while Myrtenaster is a lot more intuitive, I think.
It’s a simple design, but not plain, which I feel fits Weiss. Because her semblance is so complex, she doesn’t really need a cool or flashy weapon, so Myrtenaster is elegant, but functional. In Weiss’ hands, it is both a sword, and a magic wand. 7/10
Short Range It’s a sword, which are famously pretty good melee weapons. Not much to say here, it’s just pretty good. 6/10
Long Range This one’s a little harder to judge, because Weiss usually channels dust through her glyphs for her long ranged attacks. However, she can also channel dust directly through the blade to perform a ranged attack… but the range isn’t that great. 4/10
Mobility Myrtenaster suffers in this category, as it does very little to help with Weiss’ mobility. Granted, she doesn’t really need any help, her semblance makes her one of the most mobile fighters in the show. She can even fly! No thanks to Myrtenaster though. 0/10
Versatility This is where Weiss and Myrtenaster shine. Even without taking her semblance into account, the sword can hold up to six vials of different kinds of dust, giving her plenty of options. Add her ability to channel dust through her semblance, and Weiss is easily one of the most versatile fighters in the show, and a lot of that is thanks to Myrtenaster. The only reason I’m not making it a ten out of ten is because it is so lacking in ranged and mobility options. 9/10
Bonus Round! Myrten aster is the German name for a flower, the common myrtle, which is usually white. Apparently, it’s associated with love and weddings. Soooooo… a white flower… associated with love… Whiterose confirmed!!??!??? Two bonus points!
Final Score Weiss Schnee’s Myrtenaster gets a final score of 28/50
A bit on the lower end for the ice queen. But consider; the reason Weiss did not get an upgrade in Volume 7 is because her fighting style was already perfect, and that’s just not me saying that because I love Weiss, that’s what the writers said. Like I’ve pointed out again and again, Weiss’ strength comes not from the size or power of her weapon, but from her semblance, from her very soul. Myrtenaster just enhances it.
In the White trailer, Weiss sings about being feeling lonely. Suffice it to say, I don’t think she feels alone anymore, not with all of her friends at her side. And in battle, she shines, not as the star fighter of her team, but as the ultimate support. From the loneliest of all, to being supported by, and supporting her newfound family.
She wasn’t always that pleasant to be around, but with a little warmth and a little patience, the ice queen thawed out become a nice queen.
That’s all I’ve got for now, be sure to check back in next week when I take a look at Blake Belladonna’s Gambol Shroud!
