Hi, Internet
So for the purposes of writing fiction I'm going by Kate Weize. Hello! Here's what I've been up to for the past eight years:
Major career change, minimum wage job, then high-demand but well-paying and flexible job, now unemployed again. Unfortunately I'm in an AI-heavy industry and grappling with how to approach that while having the convictions of a luddite who is also bad at lying.
Went through some really rough family things that I won't get into on the internet. This and the isolation/stress from the pandemic pretty well killed my writing mojo.
Also, living in the US, there's everything on the news so. Yeah.
Spent a lot of time doing DND. This was my major creative outlet from basically the pandemic until recently. Might eventually share some of my characters' stories as fiction? We'll see. I still run a game on a monthly basis.
Made a human! Who is now a toddler. She's great.
Recently I've been in the headspace and had the time/opportunity to return to writing, and I'm trying to take advantage of that to the best of my ability. Thus far I'm:
Writing flash fiction on Instagram (reposted to Tiktok, and I'll probably repost here and to YT eventually?) for anyone to read and enjoy.
Published in a horror anthology (Threads of Obsession, available on Amazon and from The Crafty Bookstore)
Submitted to a few other anthologies (wish me luck!)
Working on a fantasy novel (which is, unlike all of the above, not horror... because I'm great at branding)
Who knows what's next?
So that's where I'm at! I'll be posting occasional updates here and hoping for the best.
