LOM Theory, Kaleidoscope Mind
Coined by its Scottish inventor David Brewster, "kaleidoscope" is derived from the Ancient Greek word καλός (kalos), "beautiful, beauty", εἶδος (eidos), "that which is seen: form, shape" and σκοπέω (skopeō), "to look to, to examine" hence "observation of beautiful forms."
Brewster thought his instrument to be of great value in "all the ornamental arts" as a device that creates an "infinity of patterns". Brewster believed it would at the same time become a popular instrument "for the purposes of rational amusement". He decided to apply for a patent, a right granted by the government for an inventor to manufacture, use, or sell an invention for a number of years.
The circumstances never allowed Brewster to be financially successful from his invention. The manufacturer had shown one of the patent instruments to some of the London opticians to see if he could get orders from them. The instrument was copied and marketed before the manufacturer had prepared any number of kaleidoscopes for sale.
Brewster estimates out of the two hundred thousand kaleidoscopes sold in London and Paris, most were not correctly made to show the true beauty. Only roughly thousand of these were authorized copies that were constructed properly. Most people had only ever seen improper kaleidoscopes. Because so relatively few people had experienced a proper kaleidoscope or knew how to apply it to ornamental arts, he decided to publicize a treatise on the principles and the correct construction of the kaleidoscope.
The Court of Law might have reduced the strength of the patent since the principles behind creating a kaleidoscope were already known. Brewster stated that the kaleidoscope was different because the particular positions of the object and of the eye, played a very important role in producing the beautiful symmetrical forms. Indeed, he was always more interested in the beauty and joy of his device than in reaping financial gain, and he wasn’t sorry for the profit loss so much as he was disappointed that the beauty of the kaleidoscope disappeared under a sea of kaleidoscopes showing the wrong images that were made primarily for financial gain.
"Kaleidoscope Mind” is a mind that observes beautiful forms.
As the song goes, kaleidoscope mind is also colourblind; it cannot discriminate between colors. Whether red or blue, it is all beautiful. Gendered as these colors are,(female=red, male=blue) this mind is not discriminating based on gender or picking sides.
When this colourblind mind is the lover of mine, there is no ability to pick and choose only the certain shapes one prefers. Because there is no ugly, all of it is beautiful in it’s many forms. Through the lies, regrets, crimes, everything must be accepted in time. There is simply no other way to be when two people are so in love.
There are others that are loved too, but are not ones that the lovers are in love with. Ones that do not love us in the same way because they have teeth, and they have us by the mouth, killing us with the thin white lies written for their own ends. Hurricane insert name(s).
This person’s image could have appeared largely one way to the public, his mind creating illusions and pretty pictures. The true “principles” behind creating kaleidoscope images must be examined more closely. Like with actual kaleidoscopes, the true kaleidoscope mind isn’t marketed for purchase. The way all the poorly made fake kaleidoscopes are. These fake kaleidoscopes show images that are created for money. Indeed, they are distractions from the true image. If you were to see the true image, then none of these fakes could sell nearly as well. But we love it all indiscriminately.
There’s so much love for Kaleidoscope Mind that they even love those people with other agendas for why they are associated. True love is simply that blind and unmotivated by want of fame or fortune--an experience of beauty, so powerful when it is this unconditional that it overcomes all disgust and discomfort for toxic people and actually feels compassion for them.
