bright bright red hair (the color of fresh blood)
a sharp well-defined nose, eyebrows on point, immaculate side profile
duality duality duality!!: despite his reputation, actually has a very joking and care-free personality with his members (loves to laugh), get him mad tho and face the consequences
a personality like a wildfire: spontaneous, savagely beautiful, alluring, ablaze with loyalty and dedication
life story in a few bullet points: born to a noble family in the countryside, sole heir to the family wealth, but our hongjoong be like nope that’s not the life for me
runs away from home to the capital at the age of 15 to his uncle’s who’s a ship builder, arrives to witness his uncle’s murder
with no home, no money, no food, and no name, wanders the streets alone for 2 years
our little hongjoong is smart and resourceful though and soon enough, he’s the leader of a small gang of orphaned/homeless kids who work together to thieve food and money off the streets
on a particular occasion, saved by san, wooyoung and yeosang. the four bond over their dreams of sailing away from the city and being pirates

mysteriously persuasive, frighteningly strategic
knows each member’s strengths and weaknesses, uses this knowledge to fill in the flaws and chinks in the group
always chiding the members on ways to improve
has a soft spot for the TwinsÂ
the only one that he has trouble persuading is seonghwa (he’ll be taking that info with him to his grave)
can hold his own in a swordfight but doesn’t enjoy using weapons (he was taught in books, not swords!)

the rumors say he owns a magic compass that points to buried treasure but ha no he’s just good at thinking in other people’s shoes
during raids, uses his brain to strategize the most efficient and effective way to get the enemy to surrender, his strategies have cemented his reputation as a skilled and ruthless captain
with his crew, will joke around a lot (did i already say he loves to laugh?)
will stay in the captain’s quarters till ungodly hours of the night (sometimes u’ll find him asleep on the rough wooden table, his parrot on the table beside him)
did i mention clumsy? always knocking food off tables, spilling drinks on maps, tripping over air... all that fun stuff :)
loves and cares for his members so so much, they gave him a family when he had none oofÂ
can usually be found in the captain’s quarters pouring over various books and maps
