There has been a recent attack on my beliefs about whether or not the people of this country need life-long welfare, universal healthcare or any other government, money wasting perks. Well here is a TRUE STORY:
There was a young man and a young woman who both DROPPED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. They were in their late teens…. And they were working MINIMUM WAGE as phone operators. They were VERY POOR, living in the PROJECTS in Atlanta (which is a government provision that I agree with), and…they had a newborn baby girl. After a few years of saving any money they could; they decided to take a risk and MAKE SOMETHING OF THEMSELVES. They used the money they had been saving for their now two daughters’ education, their LIFE SAVINGS, and purchased two arcade game systems. They worked hard, trying to start a business and keeping food on the table. NEVER GIVING UP or accepting government care, they slowly built up their business, which their young daughters named Funway Incorporated. Today, Funway Inc. is one of the largest amusement companies in the southeast and is also one of the largest subcontractors of Walmart. The couple promoted the value of education to their daughters who would later graduate from the University of Florida. They took advantage of FREE PUBLIC EDUCATION to work their way to college. Now, the eldest daughter has an M.S. in Computer Science and lives happily with her husband and four children. And the younger daughter lives happily with her husband and four children as well. The couple is retired in Florida, living the life they deserved. I visit them often… because THEY ARE MY GRANDPARENTS. I am so proud of what they have accomplished and the lessons that they have taught me. They taught me that America is FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES and no matter how hard a person’s life may be… there is hope for a future if you are willing to try. A person who receives a check in the mail EVERY MONTH will not want to get a minimum wage job because they know that they will be taken care of by the government, by MY TAX DOLLARS. They need to take the risk and earn their living. Paying for others to live not only hurts themselves but also our nation. These programs that our government is issuing are causing massive amounts of spending that is INCREASING OUR NATIONAL DEBT exponentially. In addition, my money is being siphoned from me to pay for these programs so I have less money to spend and feed our economy. If the government cuts my taxes I could buy things I want and do the things I want and as a result, help the economy. I could have the money to donate to charities and the churches of MY CHOOSING. I am not heartless. I believe that we should help our fellow man. But it should not be the job of the government. It should be the PEOPLE, the CHURCHES, the CHARITIES, and the COMMUNITY who aids those in need. And if you don’t trust the American people, how can you trust the government. So I will conclude with a saying: “Give a man a fish and feed him for A DAY, but teach a man to fish and feed him for A LIFETIME.”
