Some night coffee wasn't nearly as satisfying as alcohol. And who knew, honestly, if caffeine was supposedly so bad for dogs maybe it was equally bad for their cousins so he liked to think getting drunk was in fact healthier than his addiction to coffee shops. Skewed knowledge only counted if it didn't work in a person's favor, yes, and Nathan was perfectly fine with twisting the logistics to suit his needs if the moment presented itself. It took far too much to get him actually drunk anymore in the first place, sitting in the nightclub half the evening wasn't nearly enough to even scratch the surface of a hangover the next day. If Nathan was going to earn one of those he never went into it half-hearted, he fully intended to be unconscious half the next day and miserable the rest of it. Self-damning indulgence being what it was, and being more interesting than spending his day off bored.
People watching was an added plus to the whole situation because clubs, bars, they were all about the same no matter where a person went; breeding ground of the most off-kilter and the same self-destructive lot as he feeling in the mood to join the ranks of that fair evening. The lack of chaos had been disappointing, compared to the drinks that were decidedly not with how strong they ran, but as the hours pitched towards deeper night there was hope.
And then, ah, there it was; the rambling and posturing of a particularly sizable guy who, from the sound of the nearby altercation, was entirely wronged by the whole world and was eager to take it out on someone. Nathan tipped his head that direction, tapping his fingers against the bar top in a distinctly practiced pattern, old nervous tics, and watching the swaying, lumbering idiot proclaim his insistence on fighting whoever questioned him or his, evidently, exceptional drinking abilities. Interest perked, Nathan watched like a jackal at the edge of a carcass, studying the scene with avid curiosity as to how the supposed 'lion' in question planned to attack whoever threatened his overinflated ego.
"Well, at least the night is getting more interesting," he mused to himself while vulturing from the bar.
