Everyone loves to receive the best of the best, but are we willing to give the best of what we have? You see, in order to receive someone has to give. Some of us have more than others, so would it be wrong to expect others to give more? It is something simple yet complex. Why won't we give money or time to help others achieve a higher academic success. We own money, we say its our money. Our money because we sacrificed time. Our money because it’s labor. “It is my money because I earned it”. It is ours, but in our final hours we stop caring about the superficial things and we begin caring about what really matters. Under that light, in that bed, the amount in your bank account won't matter. All of the sudden we begin to concern about the wealth of others. We worry about those who we are about to leave behind, our loved ones. We care about family unity, health, and we hope that they are fulfilled with love and joy for the rest of their lives. That they as well may live a good life. And how do you live a good life? Study, graduate from college and work a well paid job. Which some can’t obtain. How so? We were raised were college wasn't an option, you worked hard in high school and attended the best universities. It is something expected to happen. To some low income families, graduating from high school is a huge accomplishment. Once a student realizes he wont be able to attend a university they drop out of high school. Some students have to help support their families and are drawn into the work force, forcing them to drop out. Low income families tend to have a higher youth pregnancy and increases drop out rates. Money helps, up to an extent. There are students who live a terrible life but earn a degree. Where they given money? Maybe, but less likely to happen. Was it that someone believed in them? Could it had been that someone walked them trough quizzes, applications, and transitions? How many times have you felt alone in hard times and liked it. How many occasions were you told you couldn't change your situation and you felt as if you were stuck in the middle of a desert. How did it feel when someone walked in just in time. Saved you, showed you support or just asked how may I help. If we aren't willing to increase property tax to help other children in other states, lets help others live a good life by giving/offering our time/support/love. Because a beautiful life wont occur by its self. And in our last minutes we wouldn't worry about others not living a good life because we would have learned to help one another.
