Here’s a tale for you about love , or more specifically, about making it Some WEMFs ago after having a dozen brews and finishing up my set I wandered off stage and met up with some friendly faces. They were on their way towards their camp, which they told me was fully outfitted with bins, lights, decks and a mini stage, saying to me that it would be cool if I jumped on. Fuck yeah. I walked with them down a hill and saw a large tent that did have all the great things needed to have a party. So, we did. I don’t know how long I played for but it’s possible that I had even more fun doing that there then I did on the big stage. The tent was packed. People were really raving. The weather was great and everything just clicked. When I did finish I tried to find the dope crew that led me to the tent and the party. I wanted to say thanks. Thanks for the brews, thanks for the smiles and thanks for letting me crank it to 💯. They were nowhere to be found. RIP WEMF Radio 2014-2018

Boston online radio station WEMF ceased broadcasting this past week (Vanyaland broke the story a few days ago). While this might not get the attention of WBCN or WFNX coming to an end it is a bummer for this station that was so supportive of local music. 

In August 2015, I stopped by their station in Cambridge and was a guest on Sterling Golden’s radio show to discuss my documentary Life on the V: The Story of V66, which was having a Somerville Theatre screening around that time.

WEMF remained supportive of my documentary over the years. The single kindest thing that the station did was in Feb. 2017 after my dear friend and producer Matthew Nerney, they shared their condolences on twitter:

I certainly appreciate WEMF’s support over the years and hope they can re-launch in some capacity.

Feeling it My sets are built and performed without compromise. You won’t have to have any concern that out of nowhere, like a blindsided moment, where all of a sudden I’m dropping something like future bass. Or something chill. I’d use an alias for that. If I took a request it was because I had that song on me and I love it naturally. I believe in my music so much that I would always say ‘any dancefloor, anytime, any place’ and today, 24 years later, I’m still saying the same thing. I’m constantly told that my sounds are too aggressive, too hard or not right for the venue or party. Once I’ve pressed play and get my hands on faders and knobs I’ll look up and look out and see you. Looks like you’re feeling it too. I believe in what I do. I believe in you.
