Wendy Shay Finds Strength In Powerful New Single ‘Love Me Now’ Following Traumatic Ordeal After her brush with death over a week ago, Ghanaian music star Wendy Shay is back in the spotlight with an insightful release. Shaken by what could have been her final moments with us, the singer voices some powerful words we can all benefit from reflecting on in her latest Amapiano-infused single, ‘Love Me Now,’ produced by MOG Beatz. In a shocking turn of events, ‘Love Me Now’ was but a new addition to Wendy Shay’s list of unreleased songs on September 7. Today, in the wake of the traumatic ordeal she suffered three days later, it serves as an abrupt reminder. That is why the ‘Survivor’ hitmaker took to social media to share a heartfelt message with her fans upon announcing the single that made many feel uneasy, knowing it could have been a posthumous release. “I recorded this song on 7.09.2023 [and] had an accident on 10.09.2023. The lyrics in this song is making sense to me now…,” Wendy Shay shared with her 2.9M followers on Instagram. “Some people will only love you when you are dead… I am alive by the grace of God. Thanks to GOD, my family, team, and my Fans for their support and prayers. Ghana please say a big Thank you to these celebs who showed me love when I needed it most.” At midnight, a few minutes into Sunday (September 10, 2023), a tipper truck crashed into Wendy Shay’s Jeep Wrangler from behind on the Kwabenya ACP highway. The singer reportedly banged her head on the dashboard and suffered a mild concussion according to her management. The incident sent ripples across the industry, with many music stars expressing their well-wishes and prayers for Wendy Shay, as did fans. And rightly so, as the tragic loss of Wendy Shay’s RuffTown Records predecessor, Ebony, is still fresh in the minds of Ghanaians five years later. ‘Love Me Now’ couldn’t have come at a better time. It highlights the importance of friendship and solidarity in times of crisis while urging us to appreciate and support our loved ones while they are alive and kicking, not when they are dead. The song premiered with a simple yet effective visualizer directed by Eni Baid. Its monochrome shots revolve around Wendy Shay seated in a lush park, recounting her recent near-fatal accident through the song’s invaluable lyrics. Watch here. https://youtu.be/q06PnjykWxc?si=3XBbgY_A4ju3kv6c In hindsight, the opening lyrics to the song: “Check up on your friend. Stand up for your friend. When in time of need, cos a friend in need is a friend indeed. A friend might be going through some phase, so pick up the phone,” are bound to send chills down your spine. They deliver a pressing message and present us with an opportunity to connect with our loved ones at any time of any day before it is a little too late. As the saying goes, “Give people their flowers while they can still smell them.”

Award schemes in Ghana have their favourites – Wendy Shay asserts Popular Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay has established that award schemes in the country have lost their relevance. According to her, most deserving artistes are usually side-lined because the organizers rather present the awards to their favourites. Stating reasons for her absence at the 22nd edition of the VGMAs, Wendy emphatically stated that she did not want to waste her time, especially when she knows would not be awarded. Describing the VGMA awards as a ‘fruitless venture’, the 'shay on you' crooner said although she was nominated, she didn’t bother soliciting votes from her fans. “We have two types of artistes in Ghana. These are artistes in the industry and industry artistes. For instance, I am an industry artiste. There are some group of artistes that the industry loves so much, they pamper them at any given chance. Even if they don’t deserve some awards, they will be given. With someone like me for instance it has to be very obvious that I will be given an award before I am given. For instance, in recent times I have worked very hard despite the pandemic and as such, I deserved to be acknowledged at the VGMAs but I knew I wouldn’t be given because the board had their favorites,” she stated in an interview with Sammy Flex monitored by GhanaWeb. The Rufftown Records signee said VGMA and 3Music Awards are both the same just like National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). “Although they are all doing well, they are the same. They are like NPP and NDC,” she observed. Wendy Shay was nominated for the 'Afrobeats song of the year' with her 'Emergency' song. She was also nominated for the 'Hip-hop song of the year' category with her feature on Eno Barony's 'Enough, is Enough'. I can’t survive without music which is in my DNA – Wendy Shay Rufftown Records signee, Wendy Shay, has said that she has been able to stay in the music industry with good music because music is in her Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). According to her, she was born right into a family of great musicians which also got her to develop an interest in singing at her tender age. Speaking on Kantaka TV in an interview, Wendy Shay made a long list of great musicians in her family including the 'King of Music' Nana Ampadu as her grandfather. “Nana Ampadu is my grandfather from my father's side and my grandfather on my father’s side was also a musician," she revealed. Wendy Shay to fight FDA, Gaming Commission at Human Rights Court Songstress @wendyshayofficial says she is heading to the Human Rights Court to sue the Food And Drugs Authority(FDA) and the Gaming Commission for banning celebrities from endorsing alcoholic products and betting companies. The FDA has barred Ghanaian celebrities from advertising alcoholic products in the country. Recently, the Gaming Commission also banned betting companies from using celebrities for their advertisement and endorsements; a move which seems to be on the bad side of Ghanaian celebrities since most of them have contracts with betting companies. One celebrity who has been hard hit and has for some time now fighting these regulatory bodies is Wendy Shay. The singer has in a tweet called on her colleagues to come together to help fight these regulatory bodies because they are blocking their source of daily bread by preventing them from representing as ambassadors for organizations that produce alcoholic beverages and those who are in the betting industry. For her, she is taking up the fight by sending the regulatory bodies to the court for these laws to be reversed because they are all Ghanaians and deserve to be treated well by the regulatory bodies. “GH Celebs, can we put our differences aside and fight the system ?? I guess we don’t know how powerful we are … Well, I’m taking the FDA and Gaming commission to the Human Rights Court Celebs are also Ghanaians and deserve better !! Ghana wake Up !!” Source | mynewsgh . . #kutit #SHAYGANG #rufftownrecords #wendyshay #hollywood #blogafriccelebconer #ghana #accra #hollywood #FullCircleFestival #fullcirclefestival2018 #Africa #Ghana #Accra #officialme #kwangwaru #kakawinning #theswitchupdailyinspiration hollywood #30bg #boxingfanatik #anastasiabrows #melaninpopping #slayin #texas #fashionista #fashion #trending #ghana #accra #eventlabgh #ghanacomedy #hihi #ghana #accra #eventlabgh #ghanacomedy #ghanarocks https://www.instagram.com/p/CGTPo0thfFJ/?igshid=1uu16ipehw5b7
