So I got to speak to one of our country's greatest photographers, Cedric Nunn for Between 10and5 for an Iconic Still series. In our conversation about the gaze of the photographer, the hesitations he had taking pictures solely of struggle and the way photographs can capture a stillness that allows us to reflect on ourselves; it made me think about the importance of the medium. How do we use photographs today? When can we move from a place that shows black bodies only in pain? Why do we forget that being carefree is a privilege too?
