#WerkWednesdays : Lesson # 1
Truth be told, I didn’t expect I’d be landing this job. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Oo guys, may work na ako! Palakpakan naman dyan! Kaya I declare Wednesdays as my hashtag WorkWednesdays. Since Wednesday ngayon, a post about work will obviously happen.
So kamusta naman ang first day?! Before I stepped in the office, I was repeating my ‘welcome’ speech! Nax may welcome speech. Meganon ba sa mga bagong employees? Wala! Pwes, I only did that just so I wouldn’t forget my heart’s posture towards the job, my workplace, and all the people in the company. You know. Sometimes kasi we can get lost in the pool of our emotions and feelings. And I don’t want to let that happen because I could get a little tense especially since everything is new! At some point pa nga I thought I was going to be paralyzed by fear and insecurity but God is good because on my first day, I got late!!! Totally not sarcastic! Not sarcastic either when I said I am not being sarcastic. Hahaha.
Being late on my first day? Sus. Wala yun! Che! De joke! Of course, I got worried! I am still worried but instead of being always anxious about what happened in the past, I try to be reflective. So what was the upside of my being late on my first day? Instead of having time to magnify my kabadong-kabado-kasi-first-work-ko-to-paano-ko-ba-sila-maiimpress state of mind, the only aim I could think of was sign in on time! The thing is, I didn’t know I was late until I learned that their time is 30 minutes advanced than the time I follow. So as soon as I saw their clock upon entering the gate, I rushed to the bandy clock, sabi pa ni ate receptionist, hindi pala ako doo maglog in and all that. So ang dami pang ganap. Nagkamali pa ako ng basa ng employee number ko sa it took me a while to be able to log in. Hay. First day problems. (Okay so let’s not dig more into the details. Ang daldal todo!)
After the incident, I got more conscious syempre. But what’s amazing is hindi na ako masyadong nagdwell on the negativity! Them bad vibes be craaay! Im soo proud of myself and I am sure I wouldn’t be able to achieve it without the help of the Holy Spirit. Haha. Nax! Been summoning the Holy Spirit a week before my first job! Thank youuu! <3 til next time! So there. The incident gave birth to my lesson number 1
Okay lang maging bobo or tanga.
Harsh! Oh please. Marami pa talaga akong eing moments on my first day! Pero yun na lang muna.
Just like you, I am scared of being labeled as such. But I guess we all have to go through that stage especially when we are faced by fresh realities! I think many can relate especially since my generation’s a little impatient, and too egocentric so anything that could hurt their image is an automatic shakes my head episode.
As I battle the first day eing moments aftershock feelings and thoughts, I realized na ano ba, first day mo pa lang. Relaks girl!
I told myself that I could let my mistakes pass for a couple of weeks because I’m still learning! I know this is a common knowledge na pero minsan kailangan talaga natin maremind! When I started blogging, I was too shy to publish my post and plug it on other social media sites because I was too conscious with my grammar and sentence patterns. But a blog is meant to be read and kahit na sabihin natin na we blog to express for ourselves, a writing needs its readers, deep inside we want our thoughts to influence or reach man lang the consciousness of other people. If I would always shy away from the scrutiny of the public, walang mangyayare. Walang growth for me and my blog.
So when I started t acknowledge and accept the fact that mistakes will be inevitable for a couple of weeks or even months, the load became lighter for me to carry. It is easier for me to embrace the job and the pressure, stress that go with it.
I used to avoid any chances of falling into mistakes that is why I miss a lot of opportunities. I kept on saving myself from being nakakahiya kasi nagkamali. I used to play safe every time I had to decide because I don’t want to be accountable! I couldn’t stand blaming myself for the consequences! But don’t worry guys, I learned na! And my first 2 days of working made me embrace the idea more! <3 Iba talaga ang feeling. I bet half of my readers, dalawa lang naman kayo so siguro yung isa, hahaha can totally feel me. Being afraid to fall on your face is perfectly natural however if the reluctance is really controlling you and limiting you to experience so much in life and you just felt you are becoming stagnant, be alarmed! You are missing so much. Nax. Ako nga 20 na saka ko lang narealize.
I am also grateful that my workmates are encouraging me to try everything on my first week. Magkamali ka na ngayon pa lang para matututo ka na agad. Magtanong ka na ngayon pa lang. They made it easier for me to admit my wrongs and don’t feel too abashed about it. Parang pag nagkamali ka, be proud because it is a sign of growth.
Don’t be apprehensive especially when you are just starting to learn the ropes of a new ground. I know we are always on a rush. On a rush to grow up, learn this, earn money, achieve this and that. Always remember that you can’t get the best things in a cinch. Don’t be too hard on yourself when you fail especially when you are in a new venue. Be courageous to face failure and be more courageous to bounce back.
Okay lang magkamali! Relax. Kebs lang yan basta open matuto.
Anyway, eto pampagood vibes sa ating eing moments this week! Cheers!
