Asian Reds and Westenr Edges have an interesting genetic make-up, I’ve noticed especially with my newest addition to the family Tia
She is a Hybrid of an Asian Red and a Muffet Bitty, but her appearance looks like she’s leaning a bit closer to a Western Edge doesn’t it? Instead of a noddle-body of an Asian Red.
I’ve found out something very interesting about the dragon-Bitty genetics.
Apparently, Asian Reds and Western Edges have the genetic capability to become EITHER of their dragon species upon hatching from the egg- similar to the X Y chromosome’s in humans, I guess.
They can also carry characteristics of the other type in their appearance as well!
They seem to decide which body-type they’ll be about a week or so before hatching from their eggs, either as an Asian Red or a Western Edge, predominantly.
My belief is the Asian Red lineage of Tia’s parentage allowed her to genetically choose Western Edge appearances (obviously minus wings, but I am fully expecting fire and webs in some combination....)
Also, for those who didn’t know, the egg that hatched the same day as her was the Riolu egg that our resident visitor, BiBi the Celebi, brought in!
And yes they see each other as siblings~
This has been a lesson in MythBitty genetics, hosted by your resident Mythicals Leader~
