🫂 This is Oleksii from Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. He is only 4. For months, he has been hiding in basements, trying to escape bombs and missiles launched on the city by Russians. The boy's mom died just before the full-scale war, so he stayed with his grandma and grandpa.
On St. Nicolas Day this year, Oleksii received a holiday pack 🎁 from Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region. Volunteers from the city in the very west of Ukraine decided to support children from the very east of Ukraine, who have seen the war close to the frontline.
This is just one of the numerous initiatives that Ukrainians or our foreign friends started to help children feel Christmas. Many kids lost friends, or relatives, or parents, while 450 children died under Russia's attacks this year.
East and west, we are united to be there for each other. We can be out of power, out of water or out of heating, but as humans, as Ukrainians, we can never be out of light and love inside us ✨
