It is a fixture in which Manchester City are runaway favourites but David Moyes and his team will likely be frustrated by the development, as it could lead to a fixture pile-up for West Ham later on. Naturally, many supporters are disappointed by the decision not to play the match, particularly as many would have been travelling to Manchester or already in the city by the time the announcement was made. Other fans have been more comical in their reaction, acknowledging that the Hammers’ have at least avoided another loss, which will come as a relief given a run of six defeats in ten games. West Ham United announced on Monday that Spanish goalkeeper Roberto has joined La Liga side Alaves on loan for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign. The 33-year-old joined the Hammers a free transfer over the summer and has made 10 appearances for the English club during the current season. The experienced stopper has conceded 17 times in his eight Premier League appearances, though, and was criticised by the West Ham fans for a string of errors. According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs could decide to sack Mauricio Pochettino as head coach should the team lose to West Ham United after the international break. Spurs have only collected 14 points from their 12 Premier League matches this season to sit 14th in the table – some 11 points off the top four as things stand. According to The Telegraph, there is a chance that Spurs could relieve Pochettino of his duties if they lose the capital derby, but a number of West Ham fans feel that the Argentine does not have much to worry about heading into the contest. Indeed, the Hammers are currently on a run of seven games without a win in all competitions, while they have not collected all three points in the Premier League since September 22. It is not exactly the type of form that Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to be taking into the match, even against a Tottenham side struggling for confidence themselves. According to Sky Sports News, West Ham United are facing serious competition from Valencia for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez. The report has claimed that Valencia have actually agreed a deal with Celta. However, Gomez favours a switch to the Premier League. And now ExWHUemployee has reported that the Hammers have actually offered the Uruguay international double the wages that Valencia have put on the table. It will seemingly be up to the centre-forward to decide whether he wants to continue his journey in Spain or instead seek a move to English football.
