Lois definitely hooked up with Iris before she got with Clark. Like Lois was having a "idk I think I could be attracted to a woman maybe" and she'd known Iris for a while because, you know, same journalism field and they both report on superheroes so she's like "well you seem as good an option as any to try this out on" and then they tried it out for a week or so and Lois ended up going "yeah sorry I tried really hard but I just can't get Clark/Superman out of my mind" and Iris was like "yeah that's cool no worries we're still doing that story together though right?" and then that same night she ugly cried into her pillows broken-hearted because she'd started planning out a full homeplan for when they'd move in together
