Offering beer battered skinless haddock fish frys on Wednesdays and Fridays during lent. They do not take pre orders. 😞 So you just go in and line up. When I went the line went to the back of the store and was excruciatingly slow moving. For a bargain price of $7.99 you get a large piece of fish and your choice of 2 sides. Cole slaw, mac salad, potato salad or fries. It is not cooked to order so often the fish and fries have been sitting a bit. The fish was obviously frozen haddock. Batter was quite “doughy” and heavy. Flavor was ok. I give it a 6. French fries were flavorless run of the mill fries. (4) All sides came from a bucket. The same ones you get at every place that buy in bulk. Tartar was a pre packaged, mass produced container. All were just meh. (4) They did include a piece of rye bread but it was not exactly fresh. Down right hard. Overall I give the meal a 5. It’ll do if you are in a fish pinch but I would rather order ahead somewhere and not wait in line for a fresh piece of fish.

Currently only offering take out while they wait for their liquor license. A new kid in a town they just opened last Christmas. I called and was greeted by Meg. Both friendly and efficient. I ordered the beer batter but there was also a breaded or broiled option. At the high end of fish fry pricing at $16, I had high expectations. Let’s just say... what a way to kick off the season! Their packaging was perfection. Cold sides separate from the hot items. All sturdy containers perfect for travel. The dinner comes with set sides, no choices, but makes for easy ordering. First up is the shell pasta tuna mac salad with finely chopped onions and a hint of pickle. I give it a 8.5 as it was a tad dry and could use a bit more dress. The coleslaw was unique and had a hint of old bay with a spicy finish. (10) No fries offered here! The roasted rosemary potatoes were solid. (8.5) Obviously this chef knows that french fries are difficult to survive a take out trip home. Now let’s talk fish! Skinless cod done to perfection. Crisp crunchy batter that still had plenty of crunch after my 20 minute drive home. Great taste, texture, and the portion was a monster. Not greasy at all!! The tartar was homemade and heavy on the pickle flavor but differently delicious. This one is going to be tough to beat. Overall rating a 9.0! Parking is plentiful, they take cash or cards, and they seem genuinely thankful for your business. Support a local guy that is just starting out. Can’t wait until this Covid crap is over so I can go back for a dine in experience! Did I mention I was digging the old school crooner tunes that were playing at the bar during pick up?! Well done Standard, well done. I’ll be back!

Our toughest jobs are the ones we are fixing some else’s mistakes. In this job the previous seller splash paint to cabinets to sell the house, and the paint started to peal off. To fix it we striped the old paint, sand the doors and repaint it.
