@westvvitch : seeing anna for the first time again in her ice palace.
SLEEP HAD BEEN HARD TO COME by in the days since her escape from Arendelle. Each and every time she tried, she would remember those faces, the change in expression when her people realised just what she was. A man standing in front of his wife, a mother pulling her babe close. Away from the monster. But they were safe now. The monster had removed itself from the story. Elsa would not haunt their nightmares, a fearsome witch ready to kill.
How long could she last on this mountain? She had no food, and none nearby. Her stomach ached for the lack of it, even with her small appetite. Already she had told herself she would seek out sustenance when she was ready, once she had recovered from the shock. She would not allow herself to starve. Would she?
The knock broke through her thoughts. A shock of fear ran through her, and the ice around her flared to life in response. Hands pressed against the wintry bed she had made for herself, she could feel the doors of the palace open. A light note of surprise — she had not made the palace do such a thing. Could it move of its own accord? Perhaps that was something to investigate once she had seen who had tracked her down to this place.
Stepping out through the doorway, she leaned over the balustrade knowing she was too high to be spotted by anyone just yet. At first she found it difficult to spot the figure making their way inside. Her breath caught as they slipped a little, and then did so again when she recognised the shock of red hair.
A giddy form of happiness erupted in her belly as she dashed to the stairs, her footfalls silent despite the ice on ice. The sensible part of her mind told her that she should send Anna home immediately, that it was not safe for her. And yet she was so pleased to see her sister, to see that she had come to find her despite knowing about her cursed nature, she couldn’t fathom doing so just yet. No, first, they would talk.
At the last balcony she paused, watching and listening to Anna. A fond smile graced her face, and when she finally stepped out, it was easy to call back, her voice filled with love, and gratitude, and not a small amount of surprise.
