PD Troy

Born 7th July 2011 - Died 5th August 2018

PD Troy was born on 7th July 2011 and homed with his handler PC Smith. He started his basic training course in February 2013 and hit the streets 12 weeks later. He lived at home with PC Smith and his family and was just as happy laying in the garden as he was out catching criminals. PC Smith recalls a job where they were tracking a suspected burglar and the track led into a river. Unfortunately they were both swept into the river but Troy managed to drag himself onto a log and PC Smith was able to use the tracking line to pull himself out of the water. Despite their swim they still went on to catch the burglar! 

Troy couldn’t resist a cup of Yorkshire Tea and enjoyed sharing his home and van with PD Woody and also Trainee PD Storm.

On 5th August 2018 Troy was taken ill very suddenly and unfortunately passed away quickly after. He will leave a huge gap in his family and also the policing family and will be sorely missed. Thank you for your service Troy.
