shhhh just imagine cas sitting down on the same side of a booth as dean and dean just casually putting his arm around cas's shoulders and hooking their ankles together like it's nothing (◡‿◡✿)

hello!! i've been following you for ages, but i only recently caved and read Blackbird Fly, and i just wanted to say that, even though highschool au has never been my favourite genre, it is a really gorgeous story and i have loved reading it (although it made me cry more than once!) you are such a talented writer and illustrator and i can't wait to see how the rest of the story pans out ♥♥
Thank you so much!
The funny thing is that I actually… I love the potential of highschool AU’s but I almost never like how they inevitably pan out. I hate most of them. There are so many tropes I don’t like or appreciate that you just can’t seem to get away from.
I love the age group, though. I love the sort of desperation that comes with being young and faced with situations you don’t feel like you have any control over. It’s not like they can uproot and run away. They’ve got people calling the shots over them in every direction, but they keep on and take care of each other, or they hurt each other. Because people can be as selfish as they can be selfless.
It’s just kind of fascinating to me, and people don’t really push it as far as I’d like. I didn’t want the scope of my story to be small just because the characters are young, you know?
Anyway, I’m really, really happy you ended up enjoying it. I’m excited you gave it a shot since the genre isn’t really your thing! And I’m sorry for all the tears. I hope in the end they are happy ones.

I can’t believe these things exist, but I am so glad that they do.
Truly, the world is a strange and beautiful place.
