Ferguson, what is happening?
I don't know much about what is happening in Ferguson (not much international media attention) but it does seem pretty shocking that people can't peacefully assemble without being shot at. In NZ we have a tradition called a Hikoi, which is a massive march sometimes taking weeks, involving hundreds, sometimes thousands of people. These people have the right to march, have the right to assemble and the only police presence is for traffic control; and we don't even even have a constitution enshrining these rights. We believe it is just a fundamental human right to assemble. I find it very hard to understand that the very constititution that every American child is forced to pledge alligience to, can be ignored in such a basic and again fundamental way. How is this in any way right?
