"You know, I believe you've set a new record for the number of scrub changes in one shift." Eleanor winked at Whitaker over the top of the computer monitor. "Keep it up."

"Alright. Okay, alright. It's... it's okay." he's shit at this, he knows he's shit at this, he wants to be supportive but he... fuck, he doesn't even know how. Yeah, the kid's had a rough go of it recently, he knew that. It's funny, he's never been a massively tactile guy but he always thought he was... better. At being comforting. He can sit calmly with a patient and tell them that they're dying but he can't comfort a scared resident? Fuck... he can't let Whitaker see that uncertainty. "Just... take a minute, clear your head."

"Hey.. you doing okay?" Robby questioned, joining Whitaker in staring up at the patient in-take board.
"You know, its best if you just pick one and jump back in. You know, I got a case that might be right up your alley."

"I have a pretty high pain tolerance. Really the only thing high school did for me." Winn replied, looking down at his lap instead of anywhere else. "Can't say my ego is handling this as well, I can't go back to work admitting that I got taken down by a sixteen year old suspect."

"Alright, not ideal." he cleared his throat, "What's your plan of action, Whitaker?" he asked softly, as his eyes ran over the chart, taking in the information he'd taken already. "And remember, with emergency medicine, nothing can be taken as fact. Might be unrelated, could be signs of something bigger going on, kids don't work quite the same as adults."

she's topping up her mug when she hears the door to the break room open. instinctively, she peers over her shoulder, checking to see how had come into the room. it wouldn't be the first time a stray patient had wandered into the break room. most were fine, just needed pointing back in the right direction to send them to their room, but there was always that chance and she wasn't about to risk it.
"you want one?" nodding to the coffee pot that's in her hand as she finishes pouring into her own mug. when she's done, she leans back against the counter, her hands wrapping around the mug to warm her fingers. "how's the house sitting going? everything going alright?"

"They said fake it til you make it, and I did." Buck shrugged as he sat on the edge of the hospital bed. "I just let myself get too distracted with the fact that Eddie left, lost my balance and cut my arm on a loose screw. Nothing that should leave lasting effects, right?"
