Pines Academy: a Reverse Timeline AU

This is a Gravity Falls AU where the canon timeline (starting at Tourist Trapped) is swapped with the plot of A Tale of Two Stans.

Overview:

Stan and Ford spent their summers in Gravity Falls, discovering monsters and ghouls in the woods. Ford always felt at home in the town, so both he and Stan ended up going to school together in Oregon and later moving to Gravity Falls. Ford later established his own boarding school (Pines Academy) and Stan moved on to be the town Sheriff.

Dipper and Mabel used to be close until one summer when they were sent to Gravity Falls to visit their Great Uncles. Dipper and Ford instantly became best friends. Dipper spent the entire summer helping Ford in his lab, leaving Stan to babysit Mabel at the Police Department.

One year later, Dipper applies and is accepted into Pines Academy. Mabel is devestated and ends up shutting him out of her life.

After a few months, Mabel and the family are visited by the government agents, who explain to them that Dipper and Ford have gone missing. To get a closer look at the school, they propose that Mabel and Stan go undercover as their own siblings.

Personality Swaps:

Mabel= Fez

PA’s version of Mabel is more like young Stan’s personality. She’s prone to lying, cheating, and getting into fights at school. She’s not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Due to the situation, she’s forced to grow up much faster than she would like to.

Stan= Shooting Star

PA! Stan has Mabel’s canon personality. He tends to be extremely flirtatious with anyone who catches his eye, he has trouble taking most things seriously, but he also has a pretty optimistic and positive outlook.

Dipper= Six Fingers

PA! Dipper, much like Canon!Ford is obsessed with anomalies. Because of being teased and bullied for most of his life, he pushed himself to study as much as possible. This is what initially comes between him and Mabel. He becomes obsessed with getting into Ford’s school, no matter what the cost. This leads to him making many mistakes, but being blinded by his own ambition.

Ford= Pine Tree

PA! Ford is very paranoid and very very very nerdy. The only thing he loves more than his work is sci-fi and fantasy. He loves running the school but often feels overwhelmed and stressed. Ford always seems to be trying to find new ways to distract himself from his fears and insecurities.

More Info:

This AU started out as a House of Anubis AU (wow what a throwback) but at the time I first started writing it, I watched Dead Poets Society for the first time (which is now my favorite movie) and rewatched Stranger Things for the millionth time, and most recently started binging Twin Peaks.

Now the AU is basically like House of Anubis meets the aesthetic of DPS with a paranormal twist inspired by Stranger Things and Twin Peaks.

I’ve been doodling what I’ve had in mind for character designs so I might post those sometime soon?? Idk
