Make no mistake, Hawk’s was just as in love with Tim as Tim was with him but Hawk’s fear of the society they were in never allowed him to fully embrace the love he had for Tim😭 He was so scared of the consequences of being openly in love with a man that he let that fear imprison him! He kept saying he wanted freedom and set goals that he believed would help him attain said freedom so he could live his life as he wanted without constraints, but even when he attained those goals, he never broke free, in fact he doubled down, which kept him stuck in a loop! Tim grew and adjusted according to the time periods they were in (this is reflected excellently by their costumes) and eventually embraced himself, but Hawks stayed the same! He let fear trap him and it’s only after Tim’s death that he managed to finally break free!
