Tokyo Throwback (yes, finally more !) Short Shrine Vids Part 3 Purifying the senses of touch and sound. Although I don't know the actual meaning or significance of the dragon being a common sight on the chōzuya or, purification place (place to cleanse yourself before praying at the shrine), it tickles me that here they spout water instead of the usual fire. It is however common to know that dragons in Asia culture usually signify good luck, power, intelligence, and are also guardians too, hence protection. I'd like to guess and see it in this context that they have been tamed to the opposite of their nature within the temple grounds (indicated by spitting water instead of fire) and since they are known to be fierce and intelligent, would make the perfect guardians or gate keepers of the temple.
