Hi Sophie! I saw you reblogged my post about Dance with Dragons, so now I have to ask ... How are you enjoying the series so far???

Oh man… Loving it so much… I’m a writer and Martin gets my approach to writing on a spiritual level. That gets me crazy excited. I haven’t seen the TV series properly yet, so I’ve been going in totally blind (aside from some huge deaths that tend to break the Internet with spoilers). I’ve just started Clash of Kings months after finishing GoT and I’ve been dying to pick it up pretty much since finishing the first one, but I like to take breaks between books in a series, especially ones as heavy as this one.

I’m just super impressed with his attitude toward female characters- not all cis white male writers get writing them like the human beings they are, but all of his are so on point. I love Arya and Danaerys so much and even Sansa’s kinda wrapped herself around my little finger. All the Stark kids are so delightful really and I already know it’s folly to feel that way about them, but at this point, I’ll take the pain of losing them when it comes and applaud Martin for being dastardly (cuz it’s my humble opinion that that’s what gritty writers should strive to be.)

I’m just so happy to be reading the series again. It feels like home.
