Dead House, Lonely Plain //The changing seasons (however theoretical they seem to be becoming these warming years) always get me thinking back to The Plain, one of the (cyclically) recurring motifs in my work. This installation, which accompanied my solo show "What Passing Bells" at @lastritestattoo in 2016, was the most physical manifestation of The Plain: quiet little white homes (abandoned?) in pale nuclear-blasted landscapes (and the beginning of my method of gessoing the absolute shit out of everything in sight). Wisps of the Great War and pointless, unheard deaths. And scores and scores of tofu houses, which in the intervening years have invaded every crack of my apartment as they try to stake claims away from their brethren and be happily lost. View into one of The Plain sculptures, now on view at @lastritesgallery. I'm particularly in love with this series of sculptures, which depict a landscape of no particular place but murky familiarity for me. This particular piece has something resembling a WWI trench running through it, filled with objects and rolling hills of salt.
