Saw your post about whumpee having to ask for food and it made me think of one of my favorite characters, who was a poison tester? So what do you think about a whumpee who always eats before caretaker, will not let caretaker eat before they do, but is absolutely terrified of food? Sometimes they get sick from the expectation that the food is poisoned or there's an ingredient that was in a poisoned dish before.

Whumpee who only nibbles Caretaker’s food and makes them wait to see if they get sick. They refuse to eat meals alone, but they never eat more than a few bites.
While doing a couple of quick researches to reply to this ask, I ended up in Wikipedia’s page for mithridatism and apparently people who ingest non-lethal amounts of poisons can build resistance to it, so… what about Whumpee who thinks the food is safe, but is unaware that they’d already built resistance to the poison, so caretaker ends up poisoned anyway? Whumpee feeling extremely foolish, because they are no longer able to do the one thing they thought they were meant to do in life-
And you know, poison testing don’t work with every kind of poison, because some are slow-acting and can take a long time to produce symptoms, so. What about Whumpee who thinks that a food is safe, so they feed it both to themselves and Caretaker but then, hours later, they both end up in excruciating pain?
Could Whumpee ever trust any kind of food again?
