you know what, I can totally picture heartbreaker!dave writing this one about nore, not just in the romantic sense, but really about who she is as a person and how he has such an intense connection with her

like, the lines "And when we walk down the street / The wind sings our names in rebel songs / The sounds of the night should make us anxious / But it's much too late when the fear is gone" totally being about how he loved her pretty much from the start and how freeing it feels to surrender to her love

and also the part of "I will meet you in the Next Life, I promise you" and "I will wait till then in Heaven, I promise you" being so clearly inspired by Cliff's constant presence in her life and how close they were

he would write this not only as a gift but as a tribute to everything she is to him, and also as an apology for all the times he wrote bitter words about her in his songs, and she would love him so much for it

sorry for the delay in answering your ask, I was planning to answer it after releasing the next part (because we're actually getting a bit of info on dave's past loves and issues on it!) but it's taking me longer than expected to finish it up. didn't want to leave you in the dark too long!

this part is actually where I took some creative liberty with Dave's character lol I know the real Dave has had his fair share of cheating but i really think heartbreaker!dave wouldn't dream of cheating on Nore

he's just so intoxicated by her whenever she's around and i don't think he would ever intentionally hurt her like that. so no, he never cheated on her and i don't think he ever would
